Data Science Academy

Britain is facing explosive demand for data science skills. Huge strides are being made in data-driven technologies including machine learning, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, while companies across the country are increasingly turning their attention to the incredible potential of data analytics.

We firmly believe the North of England has a wealth of untapped talent and potential ready to fill the data skills gap. That’s why EyUp will be launching a Data Science Academy to train students in the most in-demand data science technologies and methodologies – right here in Yorkshire.

Entrepreneurship Academy

We’re excited to be launching the Entrepreneurship Academy, in partnership with TEAM SY an ERDF part-funded project delivered by Capital Enterprise and Barnsley Council. Our course will help people start software companies and bring new data science products to market within six months. Our students will be advised by an expert board of successful entrepreneurs and executives who will oversee the development and growth of the new companies. The start-ups will be focused on data science applications to help accelerate the adoption of digital technologies within South Yorkshire’s manufacturing industry.

We encourage applications from people from diverse backgrounds with some experience of coding and industry.

Members of the advisory board will deliver classes on relevant subjects including company incorporation, contract law, market analysis, product development and raising seed finance. The students and board members will get ‘sweat equity’ in the start-ups by contributing time and effort in return for shares, which could become valuable in the future.

This will be an excellent opportunity for people to learn how to build a company, launch a minimum viable product and take it to market with the support of seasoned entrepreneurs and executives who have been there and done it. There is already an active customer base in the South Yorkshire business community with local manufacturers looking for data tools and technologies to boost productivity, make informed decisions on carbon output and drive economic and employment growth.

The six-month course is full-time, free of charge and open to those aged 18 and over.
